Mike O’Donoghue joined CHIRP as General Aviation Programme Manager following a long career spanning military, commercial and general aviation.
After gaining his private pilot’s licence in 1965, he served for 33 years in the British Army, principally with the Army Air Corps, retiring as a Colonel and the first Commandant of the UK’s Defence Helicopter Flying School. He subsequently worked in aviation training and consultancy before serving for 16 years as Chief Executive of the General Aviation Safety Council (GASCo).
A helicopter flying instructor and examiner for many years, Mike has extensive experience in aviation training, human factors and safety promotion. He remains actively involved in General Aviation and has served on a number of UK and international aviation safety groups.
