Alec started gliding with the Air Training Corps at South Cerney in Slingsby Cadet MkIII and Sedbergh T21 – solo’d at 16. Started powered flying initially as a hobby and then became a weekend flying instructor, teaching PPL, aerobatic, tailwheel and IMC Rating. Spent 30 years in the Royal Air Force as a Fighter Controller followed by 10 years with the Civil Aviation Authority Safety Regulation Group and CAA International working in Kuwait, UAE, Brunei and European States. Latterly served as Global Safety Manager for a large integrated flight training provider with training locations in UK, USA, India, Australia and Europe – dealing with SMS development, safety training, safety reporting and occurrence investigations.
