Alan Stroud is a Class 1 Medway Pilot with the Peel Ports Group and an experienced Master Mariner across bulk cargo, cruise, ferry, and Ro-Pax vessels. He combines extensive ship-handling expertise with proven leadership and a strong commitment to marine safety, compliance, and professional standards.
As Honorary Treasurer on the UKMPA Executive Committee, Alan contributes to national pilotage strategy, governance, and representing pilots’ interests at local and national levels. He also serves as Executive Liaison Officer for the Association’s Technical and Training Committee.
As Conference Lead, Alan delivers high-profile national pilotage conferences and has represented the UKMPA at selected international forums, strengthening industry connections and advancing safety, training, and policy discussions. He also mentors future maritime professionals, reinforcing high standards of operational excellence.
A qualified ISM Lead Auditor and Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute, Alan applies his expertise in marine safety management, regulatory compliance, and onboard operations to enhance assurance and professionalism across the pilotage sector
