Jane Unwin

Jane’s aviation career began in 1988 when she was offered the job of Crewing Officer at a small charter airline, British Island Airways. At the time she knew nothing about what the role would involve, or where it would lead her, but it was the beginning of a 36 year journey. From BIA she moved to Dan Air, then to Caledonian and then to AML Gatwick (a combined operation of BA 777 pilots with Flying Colours Cabin Crew). In 2000 she was offered a job at Virgin Atlantic, and has been there ever since!

Jane’s roles have been predominantly crewing related, either on shift or in a supervisory role, but for the past 4 years at Virgin she has been working in the Fatigue Risk Management Team as a Senior Specialist. She was responsible for the introduction of EASA regulation into Virgin in 2015 and has been heavily involved in the compliance and regulatory side of her pilot/crew operation for all of her 24 years with the company. As part of her FRM Training remit she is also now a qualified HF Trainer.
